4 years ago we left our respective homelands of Veneto, Italy and Melbourne, Australia and headed for Spain in search of adventure. 2 years later, we began hosting foodie events, Alberto with his epic seafood nights and Ella with her lush vegetarian banquets. We met at one such foodie night, and the rest, as they say, is awesome. After hosting events and classes for 2 years in our beautiful old apartment in the historic heart of Barcelona, we decided to take the leap and open our own gastronomic space. Our space, Espai EGG, opened in October and is home to a coworking kitchen for chefs as well as a space for cultural events and gastronomic workshops. We have focused on maintaining the intimacy of home dining, with all the benefits of our beautiful and more professional collaborative space. Our food is simple and delicious, and we tailor each of our tours, classes and dinners with love and care. We nurture relationships with local makers and producers who share our passion for honest food, and use organic produce wherever possible. ‘Bear on Bike’ as we are collectively known also offer production and catering services with a focus on sustainability and seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients. We are no-fake-stuff, no-plastic, all-natural, do-it-yourself kind of people, and we're looking forward to hosting you! --- Hace 4 años, Alberto y Ella dejaron sus respectivas tierras natales de Venecia (Italia) y Melbourne (Australia) y se dirigieron a España en busca de una aventura. 2 años más tarde, comenzaron a organizar eventos pop-up, Alberto con sus "épicas noches de marisco" y Ella con sus exhuberantes banquetes vegetarianos. Se conocieron en una de estas veladas gastronómicas y desde entonces, todo les ha ido de maravilla. Después de 2 años haciendo eventos en nuestro antiguo apartamento en el corazón histórico de Barcelona, decidimos hacer un gran salto y abrir nuestro propio espacio gastronomico. Nuestro local, Espai EGG, abrió puertas en Octubre y acoge a una cocina de coworking de chefs y un espacio para eventos culturales y talleres de cocina. Logramos mantener la intimidad de cenar en casa, con los beneficios de nuestra bella, más profesional, espacio colaborativo. Nuestra comida es sencilla y deliciosa, y preparamos cada uno de nuestros tours, clases o cenas con mucho cariño y cuidado. Establecemos relaciones con fabricantes y productores locales que comparten nuestra pasión por la comida "de verdad" y el uso de productos orgánicos siempre que sea posible . ‘Bear on Bike’ como nos conocen, también ofrecen servicio de producción y caterings enfocado a la sostenibilidad y ingredientes locales y de temporada. Il tour de La Boqueria è stato interessantissimo e pieno di sorprese. La cooking class è stata divertente, ed Alberto ci ha insegnato ricette e "trucchi del mestiere" eccezionali. Lo consiglio a tutti: un modo fantastico per passare qualche ora a Barcellona cucinando e mangiando ottimo cibo.

Really wonderful tour and cooking class with Alberto. Went shopping at La Boqueria, learned a little about its history and about sustainable vendor sourcing in the region. It was our first time cleaning and cooking sardines and they were delicious (if we do say so ourselves). Seriously, beautiful menu and preparation / coaching by Alberto. We're sad to have missed Ella - guess that just means that we'll have to come back again!

We had a wonderful day with Alberto. He is an amazing chef and great teacher! We started in the market and he gave us lessons on selecting fresh fish and jamon bellota, and tips on buying cheeses and fruits and vegetables in Barcelona. Then we went to his lovely cafe, where there is a well equipped room for cooking and a garden courtyard for eating. There were 7 in our group and together we made an amazing meal. Starting with beautiful assortment of cheeses, jamons, pickled vegetables and bread, followed by watermelon gazpacho, marinated sardines with a pesto sauce and roasted potatoes, and perfectly cooked beef tenderloin with mushrooms and parsnip puree. All accompanied by Spanish wines. Alberto is very committed to sustainable foods and the quality and preparation of everything was excellent. This was a very special event for all of us!

We had such a great time with Alberto and Ella. Such a great way to spend a morning and experience something different in a vibrant city. Both hosts were absolutely lovely and very friendly! The kitchen space was a perfect set-up for the cooking school and everyone got very hands-on for the full time. Perhaps most importantly, the food and wine were fantastic.

The event was so fun we met and talked with people from the US, Columbia, Spain, UK, and Italy. We talked about our Christmas traditions while eating great food and wine. There definitely could have been more wine but it was such a wonderful time! Hosts were spectacular the atmosphere was beautiful!

A must have experience - don't miss this opportunity! The market tour was fun and we get to taste the local delicatessens. Alberto & Ella hospitality, 'easy going' spirit and the local wines are exactly the needed ingredients for a delicious and enjoyable moments.

He sido la persona que ha elegido el catering y tengo que admitir que la elección fue perfecta. Alberto y Ella han sabido juntar sabores de todo el mundo en un entorno encantador y dejar que las conversaciones fluyeran. Recomiendo la ensalada fresca y los postres. Gracias chicos!

I went alone to Alberto's and Ella's own foodie experience and had a great time! We were only 4 people so that made all the learning process and the whole cooking class much more private and fun! They are great foodie guides, who showed us around their favorite food stands in the Santa Catarina Market and giving some explanations and tips on the best ingredients. After tasting some cheese here, some jamón there we went to their authentic Barcelona style flat where they taught us not only delicious food :) but also some really handy cooking techniques and how to amaze our friends with some cool presentation! The morning finished with wine and lunch on their rooftop terrace enjoying the sun. I will recommend this for sure!! Thanks a lot happy couple! :D
